The Finalist | Jenot
Project description:
The state must always function. In crisis, epidemics and during war or digital attack. Any information that leaks is a violation of national security. Everything, even seemingly insignificant pieces of information can be used against members of the government or Poland. Ensuring a secure form of communication is a key issue for national security.
The army, intelligence agency and other services use certified receivers and encoders to provide information to each other. The government and the parliament, on the other hand, use popular foreign and unsecured instant messengers. Sending important data to third parties can lead to leakage of important data. The right tool has never been provided that is safe, convenient to use and reliable.
Current methods of communication with Members are based on emails and SMSes. Both these forms of communication can be combined and effectively mislead important people in the state. Telephones can be tapped, e-mails can be intercepted. Currently introduced remote voting system has disappointed – since there were problems with performance and correct operation, it is certain that there were security holes.
Jenot is a completely secure, decentralized, dedicated and convenient to use application for communication and management of the state in times of war or crisis. It can only be installed on authorized devices (such as diet tablets). Jenot does not use any central server for security and reliability (everything is completely p2p) which allows the application to be used even if government buildings were taken over or cut off from the power supply. If they are taken over, the conversation history will not be saved anywhere. Theft or loss of the device with the application does not cause any leaks due to the encryption of each message and keys. It is not possible to ethical hacking because you cannot log in to someone else’s account. There are no logins and passwords, apart from authorization tokens, there is also additional security in the form of a pin required each time the application is turned on. Notifications do not contain the content of the message. The keyboards used to enter text in phones collect statistical data. This is very undesirable – Jenot uses its own secure keyboard. Each message is encrypted with long and often changed asymmetric keys. Addresses and contact details are stored in the blockchain to avoid attacks and frauds targeting the sender and recipient of the message.
Jenot’s second module is remote voting. It is completely based on blockchain to ensure that the voice will never be counterfeited or faked.
